I know this mindset is enshrined in American corporate law (check out The Corporation) and it’s possible to understand the historical, social and economic tides that gave rise to it. Nevertheless, as they say, what you measure is what you get. If all that you measure is money, then that’s what your business is about. If on the other hand you consider the value you generate beyond just the financial, then that’s what your business is about. At Edgeware, it’s about the money (after all, that’s what makes it a business, not a hobby) but it’s also about personal meaning and social responsibility.
