Since the 90’s there has been a tsunami of studies and treatises and papers about entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs; the field has been burgeoning as a subject of research – in other words, as the term gains currency and academics attempt to categorise and contain it.

 
Entrepreneurs resist being put into boxes. If there’s any single common characteristic in an entrepreneurial ‘profile’, it’s resistance to norms, or criteria imposed by others. It’s not so much that entrepreneurs do not play well with others; more like entrepreneurs only really play well with other entrepreneurs. Hugh McLeod says you can tell you’re becoming an entrepreneur because the company of non-entrepreneurs is becoming increasingly boring.
